Use student centric language instead of teacher centric language, which means taking the “I” out of instructions and replacing it with “you” for instance try saying “for the final paper you can choose between five topics”. It will inflame more motivation than a phrase like, “I would like you to choose between five topics and write a research paper for the final assignment”.

It becomes the students’ journey rather than your needs or asks.

Motivate with feedback

Personalized interaction keeps the students engaged in any environment, but especially so in any online classroom providing feedback regularly and consistently through the course will exhibit the care for their progress. It also proves that they are not just another picture element on a screen. This will keep students learning through an assignment rather than only at the end when they don’t have the opportunity to put that feedback into practice.

Providing feedback is another way to build relationships with students, by opening your communication method you provide student with more personalized experienced. Comment will less likely to be forgotten and students may even feel more comfortable following up with the teacher in clarifying any doubts. When they know you feel more connected to your course and the content too.

Motivate with community

With building connection in distanced learning is a different type of defiance, nurturing a vibrant learning community in an online course is made easier over various platforms. They engage students with each other, bringing a sense of responsibility to the class.

Creating an inspired communication in live setting does take some language planning. The teaching resources a teacher may employ and the environment they nurture in their online class have a great influence on the student engagement and motivation. Taking time to strategically evaluate one’s teaching and practices now throughout one’s online course will help the students find motivation at the challenging points of the trimester and also achieving greater outcomes and having more fun along the way.
