Only we can work towards a cleaner, healthier & more prosperous planet. On Earth Day Week, Samarpan– The CSR Club, GNIOT Institute of Management Studies (GIMS) organized a Tree Plantation Drive to demonstrate solidarity for environmental protection. All the students of GIMS joined hands to take part in the ‘ Earth Day Week’ and actively participated in ‘ Tree Plantation Drive’ from their homes because of the lockdown.
Considering the manifold benefits of trees, including releasing oxygen into the air, they also absorb unpleasant odours. The harmful gases such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide from the air and purify it. They protect us from dangerous ultraviolet rays, provide us with food, and the pivotal role played by trees in preventing soil erosion, maintaining ecological balance and most especially in lessening the effects of global warming.
Tree Plantation drives combat many environmental issues like deforestation, soil erosion, desertification in semi-arid areas, global warming, and enhancing the beauty and balance of the environment. Trees absorb harmful gases and emit oxygen, increasing oxygen supply. Plantations of trees are essential as they improve life and fulfil the essential needs of humanity. During photosynthesis, the trees break down food materials and consume carbon dioxide. Resultantly with the help of sunlight, the trees produce carbohydrates.
Tree plantation is not just something that should be done. Instead, it is a necessity, the urgent need of the hour. Planting trees is significant to protect our environment against air pollution and global warming. To this end, Budding managers of GIMS are actively involved in organizing tree plantation campaigns.
To create real change, we need to start with these individual actions.
