Institute Innovation Council of Greater Noida Institute of Professional Studies today organised a workshop on “Introduction of Intellectual Property Rights for Young Millennials” on May 19, 2022 for the students of BBA and BCA.

The esteemed resource person for the session is Dr. Sunil Kumar Yadav who carries with himself a rich experience of more than two decades and has earned his doctorate from NIT Kurukshetra in the domain of Intellectual Property Rights.

Principal of Gips Dr. Savita Mohan insisted the students to take such sessions as a platform to display their creativity in the form of introduction of a new product or patent or publication.

The resource person gave a brief introduction on IPR and explained the various related terms such as copyrights, patents, Infringement etc. Intellectual property is a category of property that includes intangible creations of the human intellect, and primarily encompasses copyrights, patents, and trademarks. IPR also includes other types of rights, such as trade secrets, publicity rights, moral rights, and rights against unfair competition. Artistic works like music and literature, as well as some discoveries, inventions, words, phrases, symbols, and designs can all be protected as intellectual property.

The session was very interactive and interesting where not only students but also faculty members posed many queries and doubts which they had in mind related to copyrights, Patent, Idea Generation, Process of Patent Filing and registered offices where patents are to be filed. The session was further made interesting and student friendly by the resource person wherein he shared real life examples of Chetan Bhagat case of Indigo, Steve Jobs Jeans , Plagiarism by Sci Hub etc. to name a few. Vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Shyam Kumar, Head of the Department B.com. Overall it was a very fruitful and insightful session.
