On 28th February’2023, Greater Noida Institute of Technology celebrated National Science Day to revere the contributions of Nobel Laureate Sir C.V. Raman in the field of elastic and inelastic collisions of light. The day began with the welcome of a renowned scientist Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Awardee and Former Professor of IIT Delhi, Professor Kehar Singh. Along with him, honourable Vice Chancellor of the Gautam Buddh University Professor R. K. Sinha also graced the occasion. Later in the 2nd half of the day, Guest of Honour Advisor and Scientist-G Professor S. K. Varshney joined the function. All guests kindled the lamp and officially declared the function open. Professor Kehar Singh delivered a celebrated talk on the life and achievements of Sir C. V. Raman to provide the audience with a close interface with his struggles and capacities to overcome challenges. Professor R. K. Sinha encouraged all research awardees for the academic session 2021-22 to keep doing better. He also expressed his affectionate relationship as a mentor to GNIOT and stresses that society will always expect big from GNIOT due to its long-standing in the field. After the celebrated talk by Professor Kehar Singh, all research awardees met him personally in two groups and captured this lifetime moment using photographs. After that, Professor Kehar Singh visited the exhibition area where undergraduate students from 2nd year onwards demonstrated their projects using prototypes and software model-based. Professor Singh was keen on knowing each piece of work and interacted with almost every student. In the second half of the day, Professor Sanjeev Kumar Varshney interacted with the students and faculty members and enlightened the crowd with a new policy Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy that he has drafted. The audience was thrilled to learn the unfolding of mysteries behind complex funding opportunities and requested Professor Varshney to pay his next early visit for a longer duration. After the key address about the STIP, Professor Varshney was requested to inaugurate the Idea Incubator Zone in GNIOT Group of Institutions and dedicated the facility to all users by wishing everyone good luck to emerge as capable and skilled individuals in their lives to serve the nation's best. Director Professor Dhiraj Gupta expressed gratitude towards all special guests and paid sincere thanks for their visit to GNIOT. At the end of the program, Dean R&D Dr. Vaibhav Shrivastava presented a vote of thanks to everyone and challenged them to emerge as research awardees in large numbers for the next academic year. The whole program was nicely anchored by faculty members Dr. Monika Dixit and Dr. Sandhya Mishra.
