Seminar on Gender Equality

Achieving gender equality requires the engagement of women and men, girls and boys. It is everyone’s responsibility

Traditional value system, low level of literacy, more house hold responsibilities lack of awareness, non-availability of proper guidance, low mobility, lack of self-confidence, family discouragement and advanced science and technology are some of the factors responsible to create gender disparity in our society. The most important causes of gender disparity include poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, social customs, belief and ant female attitude.

Department of Information Technology (IT) is organizing a seminar on the theme, Gender Equality (Gender Disparity) on 31st March-2023 from 01:30 PM to 03:00 PM at seminar hall, first floor. The audience for the event will be the IT students. Dr. Shalini Sharma, Associate Professor (Dean-Outreach) and Student Welfare at GIMS will be the Guest Speaker of the Session. The convener of the event is Dr. Ajay Sahu, Associate Professor, IT. The event is being in lined as per the NAAC Criteria-3.

The key objectives of the event:
• Exchanging good practices to promote an education free of gender stereotypes and rejecting all forms of violence.
• Exchange good practices on proactively promoting gender equality in education and getting gender equality concerns in educational curricula.
• Women and men play equal parts in determining and shaping the life of the community in its political, economic, cultural, and social facets.
• Women and men learn and teach in a gender-equitable way in schools, day care centers, and all other educational facilities.
• Women and men are offered gender-equitable programs in health care and sports.
• Women and men are free to express their personalities and are appreciated and respected in their diversity.
• Women and men have equal rights and self-determination in all aspects and stages of their lives.
